Classes
After the relevant settings have been made by the administrator, class teachers need to further configure the block.
Once the block is activated in the Moodle course, the “Student Review” block appears.
Here, the classes for which the class trainer is responsible are created. Usually, there is one class per assessment period.
By clicking on “Add Class,” the class name (or student group) can be entered, and the corresponding curriculum plan selected.
After creating the class, the class teacher has the following options:
- Students
- Student Reports
- Trainers
- Responsible Trainers
- Assessment Categories
- Class Settings
Adding Students
After creating the organizational unit "class," students can be assigned to the class using the “Edit Students” button.
The standard Moodle user pool is accessed for this.
Student Reports
Selecting the “Standard Report Template” determines which template is used for the report export and controls the display of input fields for assessing trainers assigned to the template.
Here, different report templates can be assigned to individual students, overriding the default class report. This allows generating customized reports tied to specific students. This feature makes sense mainly in combination with the “Gemeinschaftsschulen” setting.
This setting also affects the display of assessment buttons for subject-specific and cross-curricular competencies as well as learning and social behavior, depending on the chosen template.
Columns in the learning development report for student reports only make sense in connection with the learning development report itself.
If the “withdrawn” checkbox is set for a student, they will no longer be shown to subject teachers for assessment.
Assessments of learning and social behavior are only used for the learning development reports.
Trainers
Class trainers can add other teachers who will later assess students in their respective subjects (e.g., German, Mathematics, project subjects, profile subjects, elective subjects) on cross-curricular competencies.
Trainers can be added via the “Edit Teacher List” button.
Note the “Subject/Role” selection in the middle of the page.
Teachers are added with respect to specific subjects. Only then can a teacher assess students.
The input fields available in the “Fill Reports” menu depend on the assessment roles assigned here. Teachers can be assigned multiple roles.
This allows teachers to assess learning and social behavior, cross-curricular competencies, and subject-specific competencies across multiple subjects, depending on the report.
New Class Teacher
In case of illness, a new responsible person can be assigned for the entire class.
Project Examination
For community schools, subjects can be defined as “project examination subjects.” If a standard report template (e.g., BP 2004 GMS half-year report for special schools) is selected for a class and the “Project Examination” option is enabled, teachers can be assigned to conduct project examination assessments for students.
To access project examinations, one of the following standard report templates must be chosen in the class settings with the community schools option:
- BP 2004/GMS leaving certificate HSA grades 9 and 10
- BP 2004/GMS secondary school leaving certificate SJ
- BP 2004/GMS intermediate school leaving certificate SJ
Profile Subject
The profile subject functions as a subject that can be assessed when students are assigned to it. If multiple profile subjects are assigned to a student, only the first profile subject is considered. For community schools (Gemeinschaftsschulen) in Baden-Württemberg, profile subjects are excluded from the calculation of the grade average.
Responsible Teacher
An additionally defined class teacher can fill out further form fields and assessments of learning and social behavior in full.
This option is intended for team-teaching scenarios and defines which teacher has the primary responsibility for grade entry.
If an additional class teacher is defined, they can be assigned as the responsible teacher for individual students.
Class Settings
Class teachers can change the curriculum plan or the standard report template here.
Delete Class
Classes can be marked for deletion by the administrator.
Create Backup of Class
Class teachers can create an encrypted backup of the class. The generated password is required to restore the class (see also the “Backup” chapter).
